Museum and Trestle Bridge Trail

Wellington Museum loop hike (4.5KM)

prepared by Jim Hoare james.w.hoare@gmail.com

Note - Mainly flat, but a bit of a hill and steps involved.

Park behind the Wellington Museum, 0536 Wellington Rd 18, Fergus (between Fergus and Elora). This is a nice spot to start/end the hike and, if the Library is open, washrooms are accessible. Start by going east on the Museum Trail that goes down the hill. After climbing the metal stairs you will be on the Trestle Bridge Trail. Turn right and hike across the bridge over Wellington18 and continue to the Trestle bridge that crosses the Grand River. For this hike, its time to go back on the Trestle Bridge trail and continue to the stairs. At the stairs on the right is another set of stairs that takes you the House of Industry Cemetery. Hike continues down the Trestle Bridge trail and out to Beatty Line.

Turn left and walk the sidewalk, crossing the street that goes to new Groves Hospital (Frederick Campbell St) and then turn left at the parking lot to continue along the Cataract Trail. You will past the back of the hospital and then after crossing the next road (other end of Frederick Campbell St) turn left onto the Wellington Terrace Trail. The trail will go left beside their parking lot and eventually cross the street back to the Museum parking lot and your starting point.
