Kids/Family Hikes, St James Trail

Kids/Family Hikes, St James Trail and Royal City Trail beside the Eramosa River

Meet at the Guelph Covered Bridge parking lot on Gordon at 9:15 am. 

We will be hiking and looking for signs of animal life as we walk. Birds, insects, animal tracks.
The Guelph Hiking Trail Club leads free Kids Hikes to various Guelph locations. Check the website and calendar.

We welcome all interested kids and their adults to join us on these 60-90 minute walks.

Kids Hike information:

• Kids Hikes are on a Saturday or Sunday morning starting at 9:30 am.
• Children must be accompanied by an adult on the hike.
• No strollers, and no pets, please.
• Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.
• The majority of children attending our Kids Hikes are ages 4 - 14 (and sometimes there are even younger ones carried by their parents).
• snack and drink after some of the hikes

There will be two hiking groups: 

• Tortoise Group walks at a pace for shorter legs (the Tortoise group is generally ages 4 - 6).
• Hare Group walks at a faster pace and longer distance (or same).

Bad Weather? If the weather forecast looks dismal on hike day, we postpone to a later date. We make that decision on the morning of the hike, and if we decide to postpone we will e-mail/phone registered participants around 8 am.

• Please register in advance for the hike. 
• Look for more information on Hikes throughout the year. 
• Attend 3 hikes and earn a hiking badge. 
• Another hike is being planned for Feb 8 2025 and more hikes are being planned for spring and summer 2025.
