Spending Time in Nature Busts Stress.
Sitting in a forest for just 15 minutes significantly reduces your cortisol levels and heart rate variability, while sitting on an urban street does nothing.
Increasing outdoor time for your health is so well proven, that nature is being adopted worldwide as a health intervention and in Canada, healthcare providers can even write you a prescription for it, with BC Parks Foundation's PaRx program. Nature is becoming the fourth pillar of health just as important for staying healthy as good nutrition, regular exercise and sleep.
Whether or not you have a PaRx Nature prescription, we can help.

Our Walk February 18, 2025 - You must register online to join this walk.
We'll walk around Crawford Lake at Crawford Lake Conservation Area. This is an easy walk mostly on boardwalk that is snow packed at this time of year. There may be icy patches, but when I pre-walked it on February 1st there was no ice, just snow. Total distance of this walk is 2 Km. If you find this walk too difficult then you may opt to sit on one of the many benches in front of the now frozen lake. Your entry cost into the conservation area will be covered. Once inside, visit the visitor centre to learn about how to get ten free passes to Conservation Halton parks.
To join this walk, meet at the covered bridge in Guelph, 114 Gordon St. at 9:45 AM on February 18th, for a 10:00 AM departure to the trailhead. GHTC members and non-members are all welcome to attend.
Wear appropriate winter footwear and dress for the weather. Bring water and snacks. No dogs please.
