Hanlon Creek Boardwalk Work Day Saturday September 14th, 9 AM to 5 PM
Come on out for a few hours or for the full day. These events are always a lot of fun and it is really great to get out and swing a hammer. Be sure to spread the word and bring family and friends out for the event, especially those of you that live near the property. This year we will be working together to cut out and rebuild sections in a few different areas of the boardwalk system that have rotted out and require replacement. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes (safety shoes preferable). Lunch will be provided.

Directions to Workday
This year we will be working at 2 locations in the Park. The first entrance is at the trail entrance beside 81 Rodgers Rd. The second entrance is off Southgate Drive across the street from Performance Dance academy which is 340 Southgate. Google shows it as 323 Southgate. The worksite will be visible from the entrances, however, there will be signage to direct you to the worksite
The annual Hanlon workday will be held on Sept 14th. This is going to be a major rebuild that will involve replacing 60-80 metres of boardwalk in 2 sections and taking on a number of smaller projects throughout the complex. We are looking for strong support from the Trail Club and the neighbourhood groups, however, the City of Guelph will be an active partner in the project. The City will bring some staff support to work with volunteers in addition to their/our longstanding role as sponsor for all of the materials and the lunch. Really excited about this model of partnership.
We will have a number of helpers from Project Serve between 12:30 and 3:30. This is a change from previous years, however although they are only there for a short time, they are great for accomplishing a lot in a short time. In the late afternoon we’ll need lots of help to finish off the work we get started. No experience required. Please help spread the word to family and friends as we will need a lot of people to accomplish this ambitious .
We'll have a great need for crow bars, hammers and wheelbarrows. If you think you could be a team captain (not a big deal) or fill another role let me know.
Saturday (September 14th)
- 3-5 Team Captains (coordinate work in different sections of trail)
- 1-2 runners with cars (last minute hardware runs, or pizza pickup)
- We will also need tools for the event.
Tool Needs (please label your tools)
- Saws-all (portable)
This is NOT a GHTC sponsored event.
