This summer, bring your Saturday morning snack and join the University of Guelph Arboretum’s new Nature with the Family virtual series subscription.

Learn about caterpillars, snakes, hawks, owls, and many other summer creatures – then go outside with your family to explore!

Throughout July and August, naturalists from the University and the Guelph community will connect families to nature with this weekly, hour-long program featuring hands-on activities, interactive how-to discussions, short presentations, and videos.  This series aims to provide activities families can do together while following health and safety guidelines.

The program will run live on Saturdays, July 11, 18, 25, August 8, 15 and 22, 2020, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon via Zoom, and will be recorded and made accessible for registrants to access on their own during the summer.

Eight unique biodiversity sheets will be included in the program and shipped to each registrant. Topics include caterpillars, aquatic creatures, snakes, hawks and owls. Sessions will be recorded and e-mailed out so that if registrants are not able to attend than they can watch at a later time.

The cost of the program is $80 plus H.S.T. which includes the biodiversity sheets required for the program as well as shipping (a value of $40+ for the biodiversity sheets alone). Further details and registration can be found on The Arboretum’s website at: https://www.uoguelph.ca/arboretum/educationandevents/workshops or by e-mail at: arbor@uoguelph.ca.

The Arboretum cancelled all in-person workshops and programming due to Covid-19.  The goal of this program is to replace some cancelled activities with quality local virtual programming that encourages families to get outside to learn and explore nature.

The Arboretum grounds are currently open for walk through access. The biodiversity sheets included in the programming are part of a set of 25 unique sheets sold by The Arboretum.
