This beautiful section of the Credit Valley Footpath (CVF) is part of an initiative spearheaded by Credit Valley Conservation, to link southern Ontario’s Greenbelt to Lake Ontario along the “Credit Valley Trail”. It follows part of the 90k-long Credit River which was named by the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (guardians of the Credit River lands), who once purchased supplies on “credit” before heading up river to gather furs. The trail follows the blue blazes of a Bruce Trail side trail. It skirts the Glen Williams cemetery, passes the burned-out ruins of an old paper mill and the ruins the Barber Dynamo that was thought to be the first electrical generator in Canada that supplied industrial-strength power to the paper mills.
