Speyside North Loop

When:Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024

Location:Park on either side 15 Sideroad, about 300m east of Hwy. 25

The Bruce Trailhead is slightly east of #8235 15 Sideroad, Acton (on north side)

Time:9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Length:approximately 7.6 km., moderate pace, elevation gain 48m

Difficulty:This is a Level 2-2+ trail due to uneven surfaces with tree roots and leaf coverage and several rocky areas that may be slippery due to weather conditions.  The rocky terrain is challenging and sturdy hiking boots or shoes and confidence navigating this landscape is essential.

This is an interesting trail which follows the main Bruce Trail, as well as the Vanderleck, Cliff Hatch (formerly Speyside North) and Speyside South Side Trails.  The trail starts in the Speyside Crown Land Area, owned by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and passes through beautiful forests and swamps and crosses a few small bridges.

Hiking poles recommended.  Bring water, snacks and dress for the weather.  No dogs please.

Carpool Option:  Meet Marie at 9:00 am at the Rockmosa Community Hall, 110 Rockmosa Rd, Rockwood  (park on south side of tennis courts)

Hike Leader:  Marie Burland  burlandmc@gmail.com

Please email Marie if you are going to meet at the Trailhead.
