ROYAL TO HOWITT HIKE

Meet 9:30am at Boathouse, 116 Gordon. Parking adjacent and in Covered Bridge lot.
This semi-urban hike takes us down Royal City Park along the Speed River, then north skirting Howitt Creek to the Howitt Flood Protection Zone and back to Boathouse. Underfoot: mostly level with a mix of paved, well-groomed cinder and narrow dirt (possible muddy in places) trails. Overhead: some tree cover, mostly open areas.
Distance: roughly 7 km. Moderate pace - 3.5 km/hr. Time: approximately 2 hrs.
Light snow predicted so dress warmly, sturdy footwear with good tread and icers if necessary, for occasional slippery areas. Bring water. Poles optional.
