A Walk in the Arboretum
When: Wednesday 12 March 9:30 - 11:30 am
Where: Meet in the parking lot across from the Arboretum Centre (enter off College Ave E.)
What: We will hike the numerous trails of the Guelph Arboretum, one of Guelph's treasures. Its 165 ha. encompass woodlands, meadows, wetlands, managed gardens and some 40 collections of woody plants with a focus on Ontario species. It is the only place where I was nearly knocked down by a goshawk.
Terrain mainly level and easy, much of it open. Footing may be muddy in places due to thaw. Pace: moderate.
Bring water. Weather unpredictable so dress for it. Trail conditions range from soft snow, hard-packed snow, ice and some muddy patches. Advise icers and poles.
