This Fourth Chasing Waterfalls Hike Features a Visit to Pinnacle Rock Falls.
Carpool:
Meet in the small parking lot next to CIBC at 9 Woodlawn Rd.. W., at 8:30 AM for an 8:35 AM departure to the trailhead. This is a full day outing. Estimated time back in Guelph is 6:00 PM.
Hike Description:
A technical hike - one that presents significant obstacles and challenges, requiring a higher level of skill, experience, and physical fitness than a hike on a typical hiking trail. The trail on this hike includes rock scrambling, steep sections, stream crossings, and requires the use of hands and climbing aids. The climbing aid on this hike will be another hiker helping you descend at least two short vertical rock walls.
We'll hike the main trail from Km 27.9, (BT Edition 31 Reference), Chuck and Pat Grant Side Trail, Metcalf Crevice Side Trail. A 10 Km loop featuring a visit to Pinnacle Rock Falls, stunning escarpment views, and crevice caves formed by seasonal temperature changes and gravity.
Distance: 10 Km, Pace: moderate. Terrain: 3. Hiking time: 2-3 hours.
Travel time: 3 hours total.
This is a limited numbers micro-hike. Carpool is limited to maximum of 9. There will be at least two leaders.
What to bring:
2L of water plus an extra 1L, snacks, lunch, first aid kit, sun hat, rain coat, insect repellant. Hiking poles recommended. Hiking boots required - no sneakers.
