Carpool:
Meet in the small parking lot by CIBC at 9 Woodlawn Rd. W. by 8:45 AM for an 8:50 AM carpool departure to the trailhead. Because parking is limited at trailhead, please join the carpool. Limited to 16 because of limited parking at trailhead.
Hike Description:
On this hike we'll descend and later ascend steep rock faces (on treacherous stairs), scramble over big boulders, and hike three other side trails.
Trailhead is the Grange cross section, 16413 Creditview Rd, Belfountain, ON.,
(43.791365, -79.975163).
Bruce Side trails hiked: Devil's Pulpit, Ring Kiln, Trimble, Crow's Nest.
Total distance: 12 km. Terrain: very difficult (3). Time moving: 4 hours. Average Pace: slow.
Descent/Ascent at Devil's Pulpit: approx. 150m.
This won't be a descent into Hell, but it is a difficult hike! Rock scrambling, steep descents and climbs. If you aren't in shape or are uncomfortable with this level of difficulty then please consider another hike more suited to your ability. This won't be a fast hike. Because of the nature of the terrain the average pace will be slow.
What to Bring:
Bring at least 2 L. of water, snacks, lunch, Hiking Poles, a change of clothes, rain gear. Hiking boots and a good level of fitness are required. Hiking Poles are strongly recommended.
Dress for the weather and in layers. Lunch on trail at halfway point. No dogs please.
Back in Guelph by about 3:00 PM.
