Arkell Spring & Starkey Hill Thursday Fast Hike

Hiking time: 9:30 am to approx.11:30 am (including brief water breaks)
Trailhead: Gate C on Watson Rd South; road side parking
Meet at Gate C at 9:20 am (for 9:30 am hike start)
Parking: Roadside parking, approximately 1 km south of Stone Road E. – you will see a billboard with a Canada flag directly across the road from Gate C.
Pace/Level:sustained brisk 5 km/hr (or as fast as snow depth allows)
Level 2 (due to sustained brisk pace, few short water breaks and inclines)
Distance: 9 km double loop outing, one on either side of Arkell Road
Terrain: Uneven snow covered, potentially icy hilly sections on Starkey’s loop section.
Required: Sturdy hiking shoes, icers/cleats, water, health card/ID, dress for the weather, small personal first aid kit
No Dogs please.
Optional: Sunscreen, hiking poles, snacks
Description: Starting from Gate C, we will hike along David Hull and Arkell Springs trail to the Starkey Hill parking lot. From there, we will complete the Starkey Hill trail in the clockwise direction to maximize uphill cardio work out. We will then cross back over Arkell Road hike back to Gate C, following the Radial Line Trail.
