Wednesday Morning Hike: Preservation Park
When: Wednesday 3 June, 9:30-11:45 am.
Where: Meet at 9:30, parking lot, Hanlon Creek Park Splash Pad, 505 Kortright Rd. W.
What: This large loop hike will take us through a varied terrain of deep forest and open fields, over boardwalks, along creeks and past isolated marshes. Preservation Park is an important ecological centrepiece of the city. Its 27 hectares protect sensitive groundwater and its forests, wetlands and open zones are home to abundant wildlife. It is twinned with a similar land area in Costa Rica's Monteverde Rain Forest. Paths are flat and dry but rocky and rooty in places. Good footwear recommended, poles your choice. Bring water, bug spray and health card.
Distance: around 8 km, pace moderate.
