James St. and Royal Recreation Trails, Downtown Guelph

Hike name: James St. and Royal Recreation Trails, Downtown Guelph

Time: 6:15 – 7:45

Hike description: We will go over the bridge to Marianne’s Park and follow the James St. trail, through the forest with views of the river. We will go up the stairs, then follow the trail to Victoria Rd. and go over the bridge on Victoria Rd. to join the Royal Recreation Trail. We will follow this trail along the river and end by going through the covered bridge back to the parking lot. The trail varies with sections of dirt with rocks and roots, and gravel plus the staircase and covered bridge.

Pace: 4 km/hr – approximately 5 km, 1 ½ hr

Parking: parking lot by the Boathouse and covered bridge, Guelph 

Required: hiking shoes, dress for the weather, I.D. , water

Recommended: pole(s), sunscreen, bug/tick repellent

No dogs please.
