Dawn Hike - Beat the Heat
When: Saturday 25 July, 6:30 am - roughly 8:30 am
Where: Preservation Park. Meet for a 6:30 departure at the northeast trailhead (between 20 and 22 Carrington Place). There is parking on both sides of Carrington Place but avoid No Parking zones on street. Parking is also available on Carrington Street (on the other side of Edinburgh).
What: Greet the dawn and beat the heat (hopefully the mosquitoes, too) with a forest hike just as the world is waking up. This hike in the northeast sector of the park is under tree cover except for the perimeter of the Field of Dreams (where deer sometimes like to sleep). Footing is rooty in places but mostly flat and easy walking.
Pace: moderate, with time out to listen to the dawn chorus.
Note: This early morning hike is an experiment and will go ahead even if there's only one registrant. If there is sufficient interest I will plan more dawn hikes.
Bring: sturdy footwear, water, bug spray. Poles optional. Ticks are out so socks over pants legs advised.
