Wednesday Morning Hike
When: Wednesday 26 August, 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Where: Park at entrance to dog park, Hanlon Road x Kortright West (GPS coordinates 43.506611,-80.233921). This is the short section of road that runs south off Kortright W, just before Kortright intersects Hanlon Parkway. Meet at stream where underpass runs beneath Hanlon Parkway.
What: Depart at 9:00 am to hike a combination of Kortright Hills and Downey Trails This is a semi-urban loop-and-leg hike that will take us on level, well-maintained paths, past open fields, wetlands and through forested areas. Abundant fall flowers are coming into their own along the way -- bee balm, goldenrod, milkweed in pod, asters. Our hike will take us around extensive Golden Valley Pond and back again on the west sections of Downey and Kortright Hills Trails.
Distance: 8.3 k, about 2.5 hours. Pace: moderately brisk. Bring: hat, water, health card, bug spray. Poles your choice. Always check this site before departure in event of weather cancellation.
