Early this summer, a landowner requested we remove our trail from their property.  A lot of hikers were very disappointed to lose the views from the top of Kong Hill.  But fortunately, the neighbouring landowners, the Nellis family, are very community-minded, and have generously allowed us to move the Radial Line Trail over onto their land.

All we had to do was build 1.4 kilometers of brand new trail through the middle of a forest!

We started by bushwhacking, choosing the best and most interesting path through that forest, being careful to avoid inadvertently trespassing back onto the original property, and marking our suggested pathway with surveyor’s flagging tape.  After reviewing that proposed path with the new landowners, and making some adjustments to stay farther away from their ATV trails and personal camping area, we had our first work party in mid August, using loppers to clip a rudimentary path through the woods.  This made it easier to bring in the bigger equipment, i.e. chainsaw and weedwhackers.

This section of forest is lovely, quite varied, with mature pine trees, deciduous trees, cedar trees, and the trail passes by several interesting features including plenty of moss-covered rocks.

As with every other section of our trails on private landowner’s properties, trail users are asked to please stay on the blazed trail, and do not wander off trail to explore other parts of this private land.
