  Meet at the J.A. Pollock Trailway on Shirley Drive, directly across from BMW Grand River in Kitchener by 8:55 AM for a 9:00 AM departure to the trailhead. Google map of carpool location. Please join the carpool as parking is limited at the trailhead.

  Trailhead is Short St. in Winterbourne - On the Grand Valley Trail

  From there we'll hike to the Kissing Bridge in West Montrose. The trail passes through old growth forest beside a stream, crosses open field, and includes walking on a road used mainly by horse and buggy.

  The Kissing Bridge is currently closed for repair. We will be unable to cross it.

  Distance: 8 Km., Terrain: 1, Pace: Moderate. Walking Time: 2 hours.

  Carpool from the Covered Bridge at 9:00 am, depart trailhead at 9:30 for approximately 2 hours of hiking.

  We will hike the following trails:  ECO Centre, Osprey Tower, River, Woodland and the Grand Trunk which take us through grassland and shrubland habitats, mature deciduous forest and past limestone cliffs over the Grand River.  The River Trail offers a walk of medium difficulty on soil and rocky substrate.  We will likely see birds and spring flowers.  Bring insect repellent for the ticks.  Poles will be helpful.  

  The main focus of the rare Charitable Research Reserve is conservation; they also carry out research, offer educational programs and work with Indigenous organizations.  The trails at rare are free and open to the public from dawn to dusk for exercise and connecting to nature. Parking is available near the old barn on Blair Road.

  Meet at the trailhead parking at Scotsdale Farm link: Scotsdale Farm

  Pace Moderate-Brisk 4-5km/h pace

  Approximately 10km loop

  2-2.5hrs Hiking time 

  This will be a fast paced hike with little or no breaks until the end.  If you have any questions or doubts please message the hike leader and I will be happy to help. 

  From the trail head we will make a loop following the Bennett Heritage trail to the Bruce trail and back to Scotsdale farm. This route offers a good variety of terrain. Rocks, roots, foot bridges, streams and wonderful views. It can get muddy in some areas depending on the weather. 

  Required - hiking shoes, dress for the weather 

  Recommended - water, snack, hat, bug spray, sunscreen

  Meet in the small parking lot next to CIBC at 9 Woodlawn Rd. West, Guelph, by 8:50 A.M., for a 9:00 A.M. carpool departure to trailhead. Arrive at trailhead around 10:00 AM. Lunch on trail.   Trailhead is the free Bruce Trail parking lot on Hockley Valley Rd.

  Hike Details
  We'll hike a maximum of 10km, but probably less. Our goal won't be distance or speed, but to take our time to look at, take photos of, and to smell the flowers. Trillium, Trout Lily, Bloodroot, Wood Anenome will be in bloom.

  We'll hike one, maybe one and a half of the three loops in Hockley Valley Provincial Park. Our pace will be slow to moderate. Pace will be set by the hike leader. We will not be walking quickly and probably most often slowly.

  There are hills on this hike that can be very difficult to climb if you don't have the cardio stamina to climb them. We will be going slowly up these hills, but please be honest with yourself about your ability to climb hills when hiking. There are many difficult hills on this hike!

  What to Bring
  Bring at least 2L of water, snacks and lunch (lunch on trail), a rain jacket, sunhat, sunscreen, bug repellant, a small personal first aid kit, a camera. Hiking boots required. No dogs please. No dropout.

  Hungry Hollow Loop (Georgetown)

  Location: Trailhead opposite 125 Miller Dr. Georgetown (between Lookout Court & View Point Circle) Roadside parking.

  Time: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

  Distance: Approx. 9k – Level 1+ - Moderate to Brisk Pace

  Trail: Trail surface is crushed stone & soil, mostly flat, with some hills

  Hungry Hollow is a hidden gem! It’s a deep valley that courses through one of southern Ontario’s prettier towns, but for the most part is out-of-sight and out-of-mind. You’re in an oasis of forest, marsh and water. The trail takes you across bridges over Silver Creek, which flows into the Credit River and on a fabulous 500m boardwalk through a lovely marshy area. This beautiful loop is truly, “Wilderness in the City”.

  What to Bring:
  water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellant, sunhat, dress for the weather, appropriate footwear.  No dogs please.

  Our hike will be a loop in the Halton Agreement Forest Trails Association (HAFTA). This hike will take us on the Mahon Tract, which is part of a network of 14 well maintained tracts featuring diverse landscapes, like meadows, woodlands and wetlands, as well as a dozen other, sometimes challenging, multi-use mountain bike and hiking trails.  You’ll discover some cool, interesting features in this awesome wooded area!

  What to Bring:

  A Hike With Everything You Love

  Carpool
  Meet at 110 Rockmosa Dr., Rockwood, (next to the tennis courts), by 7:55 AM for an 8:00 AM departure to the trailhead.  Back in Rockwood by 4:00 PM.
  This will be a car shuttle hike and therefore space in the carpool is limited to 14.  You must join the carpool from Rockwood to join this hike.

  Details
  We'll hike the Oliver Creek Side Trail, the Main Bruce Trail and the Boyne Valley Side Trail, as well as a small section of roads. Trails are soft and easy on your feet. Walk through tall softwood forests beside pretty streams.  Lunch on trail. Many hills to climb with a wonderful panoramic lookout view! This hike is a cardio workout! 
  You will need to have a high level of physical fitness to complete this hike.

  Length: 14 Km. Pace: 4 Km/hour. Terrain: 2+.  Hiking time: 3 - 4 hours.

  What to Bring
  At least 2L of water!!  Snacks, lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, sunhat, hiking poles, rain jacket, small first aid kit, change of socks. Hiking boots required. No dogs please. No dropout.

  When : Sunday, May 25, 2025 2:30 to 4:30 PM

  Where : Meet at Canadian Tire Parking Lot at junction of Woolwich and Woodlawn Rd for carpooling to the trail head, since the trail head parking lot is not large.  

  Description :- The trail is about 1.5 km in total and is easy walking to a slight rise at the farthest point on the loop, where there is a view of the area. There is a mix of interesting subjects along the way.

  Bring a camera that you are comfortable using. We will explore the area, at a slow pace, taking lots of time to find some great photographs, finishing in time to be home for dinner.

  Hike end time: Hike takes place 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM ending at the Rogers Centre; Bus will have us home by 7 PM in Guelph following conclusion of the Toronto Blue Jays game.

  Hike description GHTC is excited to invite you to our second annual Blue Jays Bus Hike!  This is a GHTC fundraising event that started in 2024.

  This year’s proceeds will go toward updating GHTC’s branding/website.  These valuable resources help spread word about our club to the surrounding community.  Updating these vital marketing tools for our club will help us further our mission by attracting new members/donors, improve member/donor experience, and help GHTC raise our public profile. This short-term investment will have lasting impact putting additional funds back into our community!
  

  Our goal is to raise $6,000 toward these important Club initiatives.  The Blue Jays Bus Hike is one of our 2025 events that will help us reach our goal.

  Join us for a unique experience that combines hiking with seeing the Toronto Blue Jays take on the San Francisco Giants at the newly renovated Rogers Centre!  Hikers will have two different hike-types from which to choose.  Hike # 1 drop-off location will be at the Humber Bay Bridge (15 Marine Parade Dr. Loop at Lakeshore Blvd W) in Etobicoke.  Hike # 1 is ~7.5 km in length; moving at 4 km/hour pace along Toronto’s boardwalk adjacent to the waterfront.  Hike # 2 drop-off location is the Exhibition Place Wind Turbine (Alberta Circle).  Hike # 2 is ~3.4 km in length; moving at 2 km/hour pace along Toronto’s boardwalk adjacent to the waterfront.  Both hikes offer beautiful views of Lake Ontario and Toronto’s skyline as we approach the Rogers Centre by foot.  Once at the Rogers Centre, hikers will be able to offload any gear inside of our bus and then proceed into the Rogers Centre to take in the Blue Jays game!
